U.n.i.t.y. Day 2015

(Uniting Northmont Initially Takes You)

first year freshman

You will be attending Unity Day during the first semester of this school year.  Challenge yourself to BE THE CHANGE you want to see in our school, so that we can unify in our goal to stop the teasing, violence, and alienation experienced by so many of our peers nationwide every day.  It’s easy to see what other people need to change, but sometimes we are not so good at recognizing the changes we need to make within ourselves to make this school a better place.

Based on the MTV program, “If You Really Knew Me”, “Unity Day” is meant to give you a voice in this school.  It will be an in-school day of fun, leadership, and acceptance that will hopefully ripple out to the rest of our school and change the way we view one another forever. It will be a day of fun, friendship, and new possibilities.

Bummer… You will miss most of your classes on this day… You will go to 1st and return to class during 7th, so be prepared.  Please make sure you get any make-up work from your teachers. Also, don’t schedule any early dismissals on this day.

Where do I go on the 11th?   You will go to first period as usual and WAIT until we call you out of class at about 8:15ish.

What do I wear?  Comfortable clothes.  Leave the skirts and heels at home.  You may be sitting on the floor at times through the day.  We will have black/ neon green “Be the Change” t-shirts for sale for $10 the morning of Unity Day while supplies last.  We will pre-sale these shirts at lunch the week before.

Will I need my ipad?  Nope. In fact, you will not need anything except yourself!  Please leave your book bags at home or in your locker.  There won’t be anywhere to put extra things in the gym.  Phones and ipods are fine, but only during breaks and lunch. J

What will I eat?  We will be eating in the cafeteria.  If you want to pack a lunch, we will be collecting them at the beginning of the day and passing them back out at lunch, so have your bags labeled with your name please.

I want to go on a different day…  Sorry.  There can be no switching of days.  L
