Reality Club helps students make positive choices and deal with their feelings in a constructive manner. The three components of Reality Club are leadership, anger management , and relationship training. This group is open to any student who expresses interest and is completely voluntary. The facilitator of the group is Betsy Ryan who is a former Northmont teacher who has a masters degree in counseling.
Reality Club meets on a weekly basis during school with a rotating schedule. Students so not miss a specific class more than 1 time within a 6 week period and always have the freedom to stay in class if they believe they should not miss the class content for the day. The teacher also has the right to request the student stay in class if he/she believes it is not in the student's best interest to miss class that particular Reality Club day. Students are told to check-in with their teacher the day of a group meeting and make arrangements for any make-up work.
